In 1867, Japan. The Meiji restoration takes plase to bring about the end to the Tokugawa era of Japan. The Meiji restoration is a plan ot bring on a new era of Japan and end the rain of the samerii and shoguns and return control of Japan back to the empirer. On the side of the Meiji is Hitokiri Battousai, or Battousai the man slayer who has godlike speed and accuracy. He helps to bring an end to the Tokugawa shogunate, how ever shortly after the end of the revoalution the Battousai disapires and is never seen agein. Ten years, later a wanderer named Kenshin Himura, formerly the Battousai, setles down at the Kamiya doujo in Tokyo, with his freinds Kaoru, Yahiko, and Sanosuke. Now in a time when the Meiji goverment has become curupt and swords are outlawed, Kenshin Himura uses his reverce blade sword to repent for all those that he killed during the Meiji restoration.
